Getting here from around the South Loop
We are on South State Street between Roosevelt Road and Cermak Road, which puts us within a short drive of most of the neighbourhood. From Roosevelt Road, head south on State. From Cermak, head north. From Michigan Avenue or Wabash, cut west on 16th or 18th Street and turn onto State.
The surrounding area — the Prairie District, Motor Row, Dearborn Park, Printers Row and the residential blocks around 18th Street — is dense with condo garages and street parking, both of which leave vehicles carrying a lot of road film. Downtown driving is stop-start, which means brake dust builds on wheels faster than it does for drivers who spend most of their time on the expressway.
Why hand washing suits city driving
City vehicles accumulate a particular kind of dirt: brake dust baked onto wheel faces, road spray along rocker panels, and salt residue tracked into carpets through the winter months. Those are all areas where the amount of attention given matters more than the speed of the wash.
Because our work is done by hand, our team can spend longer on the wheels of a car that needs it and move quickly across panels that do not. Vehicles are dried by hand with soft towels rather than pushed through a blower, which keeps water out of mirror housings and trim gaps.
What you can have done here
Standard hand washes come in three packages — Exterior Only, Silver and Platinum — all priced by vehicle size. Beyond the standard menu we offer detailing services including hand wax, interior shampoo, machine buffing and full Platinum Detailing, which take between one and five hours depending on the service.
Standard washes are walk-in. Detailing occupies a bay for hours, so call (312) 341-0200 to check availability before making the trip.
Hours and weather
We are open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week, weather permitting. Hand washing happens outdoors and in open bays, so heavy snow, freezing rain or extreme cold can stop service for the day.
The last vehicle must be in line at least 15 minutes before closing. No exceptions.
